Charlton Athletic’s Reeco Hackett-Fairchild has picked up the Checkatrade Player of the Round Award for his outstanding performance against Swansea City U21s in Round Two of the Checkatrade Trophy Addicks supporter Terry Buckle won the opportunity to present the striker with his well-earned award.

The 19-year-old scored twice in just his second senior start, helping his side earn a 3-2 win against Swansea City U21s. Both goals were memorable as Hackett-Fairchild found himself with his back to goal – the first was a smart turn and shot before his improvised hooked finish helped his side through to Round Three of the Checkatrade Trophy.

Reeco Hackett-Fairchild, Checkatrade Trophy Player of the Round, said: “Our performance as a team against Swansea City U21s got us one step further in the Checkatrade Trophy. On a personal level, I was delighted to be able to score twice and help the boys book our place in Round Three.

“The Checkatrade Trophy has given me a fantastic opportunity to join the senior team and we’re looking forward to taking on last year’s finalists Oxford United on January 9th.”
Terry Buckle, the winning fan, said: “As a Charlton supporter, I didn’t just vote for Hackett-Fairchild out of loyalty! His performance and two goals made him a worthy winner of the Checkatrade Trophy Player of the Round. I’d love us to keep progressing through this competition, each round gets us one step closer to a Wembley appearance.”
