Player of the Round 2017/18

24th November 2017

Lincoln City’s Jordan Maguire-Drew has picked up the second Checkatrade Player of the Round Award of the season for his outstanding performance against Everton U21 at Sincil Bank at the end of last month.

Maguire-Drew was voted as the winner of the award by supporters after making the initial shortlist built by an independent football expert. Just a month past his 20th birthday, Maguire-Drew scored both goals as Lincoln beat Everton U21s 2-1, the second a sumptuous free-kick over the wall. Playing on the right wing, the youngster on loan from Brighton cut inside at will and caused problems for the Toffee’s backline all night, drawing the attention of the award’s judging panel.

Jordan Maguire-Drew, Checkatrade Trophy Player of the Round, said: “It was a good game for myself personally and for the team. We’ve qualifying for the second round with Accrington coming up and we’re all looking forward to that.

“The Checkatrade Trophy has been massive for me. You can test against yourself against physical teams that you wouldn’t come across against in the Under-23 League. It’s a good test for young players to see where they stand.”

The Checkatrade Trophy Player of the Round competition gives fans the opportunity to vote for the player they feel performed best during the second round of fixtures. Lincoln City’s fans voted in their masses for the star forward, making sure he collected the second Checkatrade Trophy Player of the Round trophy of the season.

Jordan was joined on the shortlist by other standout performers from Round Two of the Checkatrade Trophy.

• Matt Clarke (Portsmouth)
• Tom Hopper (Scunthorpe United)
• Toby Sibbick (AFC Wimbledon)
• Reece Brown (Forest Green Rovers)
